Extension of all COVID-19 measures to 31 January 2021
What is the change?
All public statements, orders, notifications, and directives (excluding eased restrictions) of the Union-level organisations and the Union ministries effective until 31 December 2020 for the protection, control, and prevention of COVID-19 will be extended to 31 January 2021.

Domestic flights to resume from 16 December 2020
What is the change?
Domestic flights operations will recommence from 16 December 2020. The terminal will only permit entry to passengers who are able to present the complete set of documents, which include a valid ticket, identification documents, and a 36-hour COVID-19 test result. Passengers will not be allowed into the terminal if their documents are deemed to be incomplete. All passengers are to enter via Terminal 3, and proceed to the security check through Gate 4.

Renewal process for holders of Foreigners Registration Certificates (FRC) cards
What is the change?
FRC cards, which expire annually on 30 November 2020, must be renewed within 30 days from their date of expiry. The Department of Immigration conducts the annual FRC renewal process between 1 and 31 December 2020 for a fee of US$9 per renewal. In view of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Department of Immigration will commence this year’s FRC renewal process in advance, starting from 16 November 2020.
According to Section 17 (3) of the Registration of Foreigners Rules, 1948, renewals that are done after the designated renewal period (from January 2021 onwards) will be charged a fee that is twice the existing rate, or US$18.

What is the change?
The Department of Civil Aviation has announced that the temporary suspension of the landing of all international commercial passenger flights at Yangon International Airport (YIA) will be extended until 31 October 2020, 11.59 p.m. MST.

Myanmar expands Rakhine COVID-19 lockdown to cover 1 million people
What is the change?
Myanmar expanded a lockdown in Rakhine state to cover four more townships on 26 August 2020, halting the movement of about 1 million people as the number of coronavirus cases climbs steadily. State capital Sittwe has been under lockdown and an overnight curfew since the weekend, and on Wednesday the order was extended to four townships elsewhere: Kyaukphyu, An, Taungup, and Thandwe.

Further extension of effective period of temporary measures
What is the change?
The Department of Civil Aviation has announced that the restrictions for all airlines operating international air services to and from Yangon International Airport (YIA) have been further extended until 31 May 2020, 11.59 p.m. (MST).
These restrictions had been previously extended to 15 May 2020, 11.59 p.m. (MST) to temporarily suspend the landing of all international commercial passenger flights at YIA.

Announcement on temporary suspension of all types of visas for foreign nationals from all countries visiting Myanmar
What is the change?
The Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has decided to adopt the following entry visa restrictions for visitors from all countries with effect from 29 March, 00.01 hours MST. These temporary measures will be in force till 30 April:
- Suspension of the issuance of all types of visas (including social visit visas) to all foreign nationals, except diplomats accredited to Myanmar, United Nations officials resident in Myanmar and crew of ships and aircraft operating to and from Myanmar.
- Suspension of visa exemption granted to all foreign nationals on the basis of bilateral arrangements, including those from Association of Southeast Asia Nations (ASEAN) member countries, except those holding diplomatic and official passports.
- All diplomats accredited to Myanmar and United Nations officials resident in Myanmar may obtain entry visas through the respective Myanmar Missions abroad. They shall be required to provide certification of the absence of COVID-19 infection issued by a recognised laboratory no more than 72 hours prior to the date of travel and before boarding any aircraft destined for Myanmar. They shall be subject to home quarantine for 14 days on their arrival in Myanmar.
- Crew of ships or aircraft operating to and from Myanmar may also obtain entry visa through respective Myanmar Missions abroad. They shall be required to follow the latest guidelines and directives issued by the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Union of Myanmar.
Foreign nationals who are required to visit Myanmar on urgent official mission or for a compelling reason may contact the nearest Myanmar Missions abroad for possible exceptions on certain entry restrictions from the authorities.
